About Betsy
I have over 30 years experience working with people, one on one as well as in groups, to facilitate personal growth. My focus is on:
- discovering and enhancing core strengths
- reclaiming inherent energy
- achieving desired future goals
I graduated with a PhD in Psychology from the City University of New York, The Graduate School. I am a Licensed Psychologist in private practice for over 20 years and a Life and Writing Coach. My training was with MentorCoach LLC, and I am certified by The International Coach Federation.
I have trained in a variety of techniques including Neuro Linguistic Programming of which I am certified as a Master Practitioner, eidetic imagery, Emotion Freedom Techniques (EFT), EMDR, solution focused therapy, strategic family therapy, and cognitive therapy. I have been an adjunct associate professor of psychology at Nassau Community College since 1983.
My background includes diverse publishing activities:
- 15 years as Administrative Manager of the Corporate Art Department at Random House
- Self-published Mirabelle’s Memoirs: a feline tale in 2006. It describes Mirabelle’s experiences in her family during recovery from a life threatening illness

- Review article on psychotherapy on the internet in the Journal of Mental Imagery in 2001
- Articles published in ezines since 2007
- Designer and Editor of the Nassau County Psychological Association Newsletter from 2001-2002
- Facilitated the completion and publication of PhD dissertations as well as various other writing projects
- Recent completion of a novel
- Coaching writers and would-be writers
