WRITER'S BLOCK: REACHING OUT

In my last blog I talked about self-acceptance.  It's clearly a life long process.  And one of the ways self-acceptance can be facilitated is to reach out to others.  Very specifically, to supportive others.

Writing groups where the feedback is ONLY compassionate and constructive are especially useful to the writer and wannabe writer.  Increasingly these groups are happening even online.  If you are in a sparsely populated area or your work hours are difficult, an online group may be the answer.   On line can be on the telephone as well.  I have a small telephone writer's coaching group that meets every two weeks.

While the writer must produce her writing alone, it need not be a lonely process.   In my ongoing small writing coaching group, we all revel in getting together.  We share our work, applaud each other's efforts, and reveal new opportunities for writing growth.

And, it is wonderfully clear that each writer has grown and continues to grow in their self-acceptance as a writer as well as in their positive self esteem.  As an important plus, each person's writing has grown as evidenced not only by others, but by the writer as well.
